To Blog or Not To Blog

And the word was changed forever onwards, when, on an innocent day in late November 2007, VentureWeb started a blog...

OK, the earth might not have been bumped off its axis, but hey, we're pretty excited. After all, it seems only fair that in this blog packed world of the Web's 2nd generation, that an internet marketing company like ourselves would be publishing a blog. But does everyone and their dog need a blog?

TO BLOG OR NOT TO BLOG? That is the question, and we have some, but not all, of the answers. You have the rest.

A BLOG (short for web log) is simply an easily updated website or web page with entries in reverse chronological order that serves as an information sharing tool for you or your company. If your website is otherwise fairly static, a blog can be a great way to showcase current news & events, and remind the world that you're still there, busy as ever. It keeps your site current, and its easy for other websites or individuals to subscribe to your blog, keeping them up to date on your stories whether they choose to visit your site again or not.

So if you've got regular information to share... AND TIME TO SHARE IT... then go for it, start a blog now. But it's all about providing interesting, relevant, and frequent content. An outdated blog is worse than not having one at all. And now that we at VentureWeb are smokin' busy with exciting new projects on the go, we know we have plenty of relevant content to share with you. And hence... the start of our blog.

But blogs aren't the only way to share current information, so we encourage you to take a look at your website and make sure that as a whole it is doing the best job it can of providing fresh content and other reasons for visitors to come back again and again. That's why we've built many of our recent clients' sites with a Drupal Content Management System, allowing the client to add pages, update content, manage events calendars and news sections, update photo galleries, & more. Above and beyond a simple blog page with updates, their entire website can become a constantly refreshing resource, much to the delight of search engines and potential return visitors.

But enough out of us, be sure to check in often to find out if we put our money where our mouth is and actually update this thing regularly. Starting... now.
