The Best of 2009
The VentureWeb Podium Within mere days, the world’s biggest winter sporting event will engulf us in our own backyard here in the Sea to Sky corridor. The buzz around town is deafening, and the excitement is building as we get ready to cheer on the home team, feel inspired by the athletes, and celebrate the victories that have taken years of hard work to accomplish. It’s 2010 and the Games are coming! But what about 2009? 2009 had its share of buzz and excitement, too, and at VentureWeb World Headquarters here in Squamish, BC, we’d like to recognize some of the projects that most inspired us, clients who engaged us and cheered us on and, in the end, had reason to celebrate accomplishments and success. With the media and spotlights already in place, we feel the timing is perfect to proudly announce our Best of the Year:
Genuine Guide Gear
Tasked with the goal to expose and share the design process, passions and philosophy that drive G3's innovation, VentureWeb created an interactive new website www.GenuineGuideGear.com (launched in October) that truly shares every aspect of the G3 culture. Analytics have shown a 45% increase in site traffic and time spent on site is up 145%!!! Our social media strategy created the opportunity for all G3 athletes and engineers to share their own experience and insights. The result is a huge amount social contents being shared among the G3 faithful. As well as comparative tools, gear finder and complete content management the G3 site breaks new ground on translated contents. The site is fully translates and available in Japanese, French, German and English.
Telluride Tourism Bureau (TTB)
The result... Over the first 3 weeks of the site being live, visits are only up 49% yet pageviews are up 308%! That’s a 175% increase in pages/visit and a 47% improvement in bounce rate (from 68% to a more respectable 36%). Average time on site is up 55%. Meanwhile online sales saw 335% improvement in conversion rate, and 600% increase in purchased products. Previous online transactions were minimal so these percentages are bloated, but the goal of driving visitors to online booking options was definitely achieved. www.visittelluride.com
Movement Skis (North America)
The Movement team on this side of the Atlantic wanted more from their website, including a level of functionality that enables them to develop their own web presence, adding dealers and managing individual product lines. Building social media and breaking new ground with their supporters has been central to Movement as a brand. Check out the site at www.movementskis.net
Dincus Apparel
Whistler-born Dincus Apparel came to us for a website rebuild to showcase their new, eco-forward active wear fashions and, ultimately, bring the brand to life. Drupal-built with a customized admin area and modules for easy updating by Dincus themselves, a Shopify e-commerce solution and social media integration galore. www.dincus.com
G3 Ski Graphiks
Following up their initial website success (see above), VentureWeb partnered with G3 to create the 2010 SkiGraphiks contest www.G3SkiGraphiks.com (currently running) to further engage G3 fans through the implementation of social media and a chance to design their own custom ski graphics.
Looking Forward
It’s been a remarkable year, and we’re grateful to our amazing clients and the hard work of our own VentureWeb team. 2010 is going to be unforgettable! And while the focus will on Olympics in Vancouver and Whistler this month, be sure to check back soon to www.ventureweb.net as we unveil the first round of this year’s contenders, including new websites for: • The 2010 Telus World Ski and Snowboard Festival - and you thought the Games were the only events in town this year!;
- Go Mendo!, Mendocino Tourism Board - a mecca of wineries and mountain biking in northern California;
- Tweedsmuir Park Lodge in BC’s gorgeous Bella Coola Valley; and,
- The Squamish Oceanfront, a visionary plan for our hometown.
But in the meantime….“Game on!”
