Biking, Beers and Meat Loaf

VentureWeb added a whole new dimension to “sex drugs and rock and roll” last Wednesday night, with their second annual Twoonie Race! And that dimension was Meatloaf.

That’s right, Meatloaf, not the chumpy 80’s rocker but the essential food group. And what finer food could you serve after a tough mountain bike ride? The answer is none. 82 SORCA riders agreed as they eagerly cleaned up every last smokey scrap of it. The riders had been treated to this years VentureWeb XC course. And the first time a Twoonie race had been run on one of Squamish’s finest new trails, "Room with a View".

The course had racers burning up long sections of single track and down some of Squamish’s finest XC descents. It was a fast course with something in it for every kind of rider. The fastest riders completed the course in just under an hour with the bulk of the field in and around the 1hr 20 minute mark.

VentureWeb After Match

It was a very muggy evening both on course and off. Most people were happy to hammer the water and juice before having a cold one. We had the VentureFridge suitably stocked with Pilsners.

Squamish Search and Rescue were there to promote the Fall membership drive with some strong interest. Not to mention our neighbours from Squamish Therapeutic Massage who gave away healing hands to the mens and womens winners. Speaking of winners, a big congratulations to Rua Reid who won the Women’s race this week and to Dwayne Kress who took out the Men’s race.

So all around a great race and we thoroughly enjoyed contributing to the SORCA Twoonie races this year in both the XC and Downhill rides. We want to thank all the vollies and course marshals who helped put the race on. And also the one and only AJ Barlas who not only finished 21st in our race but has put in a huge effort for both SORCA and VentureWeb this year.

Nice one AJ—you deserved that fourth helping of Meatloaf...
Can I have some more!

That's true. My stomach wasn't too supportive of that either.

You had at least 3 helpings the day after!
