Explosions and Outages for the Vancouver Tech Community
Guess it's a good couple days to be working and living in Squamish. Well when isn't it, but especially this week. While we were happily working away yesterday with all the usual tools - internet and power - Vancouver web companies (and everyone else) had neither. The Globe & Mail article explained "B.C. Hydro spokeswoman Susan Danard said there was a circuit failure and fire in a major underground cable on the 500 block of Richards Street just before 9 a.m. Monday." Complete 'chaos' apparently. Classic. We're headed there today, so hopefully things are on the mend, but not from the sounds of the Canada.com article. And it wasn't just Vancouverites affected. A bunch of servers lost power, presumably crashing websites worldwide. Ah what fun.
