Frog Slays Dragons
I am not normally one for over-sensationalized reality TV shows. The one exception being Dragon's Den. For some reason this reality show is the only one that I can stomach. The whole people pitch is quite facinating to me. I especially like it when Kevin O'leary fire's out insipid personal attacks on a wouldbe entrepeneur who doesn't quite have his/her ducks in a row.
This week, I was especially excited to be invited to watch the show at Earls Yaletown in Vancouver with Doug and the team from Frogbox. For those of you that don't know - Frogbox provide an eco-friendly alternative to cardboard moving boxes, that are easy to stack, load and carry. Why was I there? Two months ago VentureWeb was contracted to build the new Frogbox web site.
So friends, family and associates all gathered around the flat screens to watch Doug take on the Dragons on CBC. With the result still somewhat of a mystery the audience was stirred into a playoff like frenzie when Doug presented and then secured 200k of investment from three of the Dragons. With Jim, Arlene and Brett all jumping on the Frogwagon.
The whole process has been a very positive experience for us. And we have been very honoured to play a small part in the process.
