Google's relatively new(ish) Google Insights tool just took on a new purpose in our office today, when it evolved into an employee popularity contest. In an attempt to stifle Olly's ego I compared the popularity of his name in Google Search compared to a variety of heliskiing terms. It backfired, when Olly completed outweighed and won. So then I thought, well I'm James Bond, surely I'm going to win the popularity contest. But Noooooooo! I compared Jamie Bond, Oliver Walker, and James Morris in terms of worldwide popularity in Google searchs, and the result... James schooled us by a long shot. James is more popular accorinding to Google Insight. But lesson of today kiddies is NOT that James is really more popular than Olly and I, but rather, that you always need to take information like this with a big grain of salt, and know the context of it all. For example, I'm only a blip on the radar because my name is suspiciously close to a movie legend. Oliver Walker only made the charts because of a popular furniture company, and James Morris is apparently everything from an Opera singer to a physician and more. So um ya, take it with a grain of salt, and really, I'm probably more popular.
