On June 30, 2010, basic authentication on the Twitter API will be shut off and all applications, by this date, need to switch to using OAuth. In simpler terms, what that means is that, in order to improve user security, Twitter is changing the way it is integrated into websites. As a result, developers will be required to make changes to existing sites to ensure a seamless transition occurs with any linked Twitter feeds. While this change isn’t one we’d have anticipated, we do feel it is an improvement to the application and it will be a mandatory fix for all websites with a Twitter feed currently in place.

VentureWeb will contact our development Clients affected by these changes, and schedule time prior to the end of June to implement the required adjustments. For more details on this event, check out the countdown has begun.
