This Week in Search - Microsoft, Yahoo, Twitter, Oh My
It's the hottest week on Squamish record (as long as I have lived) and while we bake in the office and our computers melt, other changes are ablaze in the search world as well. To kick things off, it looks like Microsoft has at last struck a deal with Yahoo!. After years of speculation, meetings, negotiations, and share holder in fighting, they've finally come to a deal. It's more of a search deal than anything else, as Microsoft will now power Yahoo! search with it's new Bing search engine, in an attempt to align forces and finally try to chip away at Google's hefty 70% of search traffic. Meanwhile back at the ranch, Twitter has tweaked their homepage to focus on, yep you guessed it, search. The most prominent call to action is now to search a particular topic that's being discussed on Twitter. But now the big question, how are you going to find out more about all this? Just Google it? Oh the irony. Or why not combo all three by searching Microsoft Yahoo on Twitter?
