Engaging the Community
The preliminary phase of this web site development project was to create an easy to use, information resource that would enlighten visitors, gather questions and feedback, and engage a broad audience, ranging from community residents to real estate developers, by sharing through social media. We also had to represent several third-party contributors to the land use plan, and collaborate with other creative agencies to carry the SODC vision from the branding stage through to their online presence. Presented with an extensive list of content, we spent much of our initial efforts mapping out the site architecture.
If You Build It...
When we were ready to start developing — going live in time for the 2010 Winter Games — we first built a Drupal CMS that will allow easy updating by the client as the project moves through the land use approval process. Feedback forms, social media integration, media clippings and an image gallery of neighbourhood plan renderings, storytelling videos and images all contribute to the new web site.
We're looking forward to what gets built next (over the next 20 years or so): an innovative and sustainable work-live-learn-play community showcasing the spirit, cultural heritage and values of the people of Squamish. Find out more at www.squamishoceanfront.com
