A couple weeks ago on another damp, dark autumn evening in Squamish, a crowd of enthusiastic and adventurous people gathered high at the Sea to Sky Gondola above the Howe Sound. They were there to be inspired and entertained by a selection of the best short films from the annual Telluride Mountainfilm festival and raise funds for Squamish Search and Rescue (SSAR).
The goal of Mountainfilm on Tour in Squamish - apart from having fun - was to raise $10,000 to support the valiant volunteer efforts of SSAR. And, after final tallying of all the figures, we are stoked to say we met our goal, with a grand total of $10,051 raised from the silent auction, raffles, and ticket proceeds.
A massive thank you to everyone who bought a ticket and joined in the evening of fun - we hope you left feeling wowed and inspired by the stories shared.
We also want to thank some special people and companies who supported the event in various ways. Big thanks to our amazing event sponsors who donated cold hard cash to help us cover the costs of putting on the event. We couldn’t have made it without you:
Thank you also to our in-kind sponsors for their invaluable help:
- Ann, Christy, Kirby, Rosie and the whole team at the The Sea to Sky Gondola - it’s the best venue in town, no doubt.
- Kim and Darren from MountainFM.
A big shout out to our hardworking volunteers from SSAR: Roz, Penny Michelle, Corrinna, Cheryl, Chad, Jill, Sarah, Maddy, Lorrie, Nadine... and of course Colleen, the raffle sales queen.
Finally, thank you to all those people and businesses who donated silent auction items. You’re awesome:
